I think someone just couldn't resist refitting the guard's ducet,
suitably restored. The glass remains to go in but its quite
effective. The second two pictures show the panels with gold size and 4 coats of varnish. This helps to protect the wood and stops it splitting as has happened on other panels. |

However fortunately not these large panels. The exterior panels on the 1st 3 bays have been refitted and pinned in place. They immediately received protection from the temperature changes.
| A picture in concentration. Even on this small length of beading, there are many pins!!!! long pins!!!!! |

However the end result is good. On these beadings, the additional cream and red lining has already been added.
| A slightly different technique is being used here, where the lining is being applied after the beading is in place. While taking longer, it is hoped that the end result may be better. |

A few extras shots. The first gives an evocative shot down the full length of the corridor. The second picture shows the number of glue blocks being employed to try to prevent any panel movement as a result of temperature change. |
