While I retreat to the safety of Essex, the two stalwarts carry on.  Marcus (the owner) and Roy (the hired help) make very good progress on side A framework clean up in preparation for re panelling. This picture shows the corridor side with three bays cleaned up, repaired and one door fitted.  However the 2nd door won't be as easy as half the pillar is missing!

While the corridor area of side A looks pretty good, the guards area of side A looks even better.  The framework has been cleaned up, the teak panels removed, cleaned and put back, with the beading. The large empty area is the space for goods doors.

However the smart panels on the outside hide a wealth of information on the other side.  To ensure that each panel cannot move (and split) once its in situ, blocks are glued to the panel and frame and then pinned in place.  Really exciting work!
..... but the end result, once it's had approx 12 coats of varnish will look pretty good.
