This series of pictures covers a very busy weekend in November
where the B end was transformed from a blank canvas (framework) to a
panelled canvas, minus the beading. (See
Jan 2006 for a bit more) |

That was quick work, with both inside panels already cut, shaped,
fitted and screwed in place. Quick workers indeed. However the
middle panel on the A side was going to be a bit more difficult as
the bend in the frame was going to put the panel under quite a bit
of strain. The first picture shows the clamps in place to hold
the panel against the frame while the other edge was pulled up and
secured with brass screws. Oh it all seemed so simple.
The second picture shows the holes drilled waiting for the elbow
grease! |

These picture show the three panels in situ and
screwed in place. At this stage you are saying that you don't
remember a Gresley coach having a ladder at one end, and you'd be
right. (Click on the picture for an explanation). |

... and of course we couldn't forget the glue blocks which took 3 of
us most of a complete day. I hate glue blocks. |
